The Gold Rush (Charlie Chaplin, 1925)

A prospector tries to get rich in Alaska. The fact that this is only my third favorite Chaplin says more about how good City Lights and Modern Times are than anything about this, which is not only full of great gags but also has more than a few moments of bittersweet longing and loneliness.
