Grandaddy, Under the Western Freeway (1997)

To the extent that low-key, low-fi, late-1990s indie rock songs can be bangers, “A.M. 180” and “Summer Here Kids” make the cut. (Their more polished follow-up, The Sophtware Slump (2000), is also great, despite the rather baffling choice of album title.)
